So, you’ve gotten “to that point”…
Has it been a slow decline?
A fast drop?
The arguments come out of nowhere… and have become progressively more intense.
Have you gotten to the point that it feels easier to AVOID your partner? If so, then you’re not alone. And you also know how lonely that can be.
Getting back on the same page and connecting again feels impossible without help.
When relationships begin…
The other person sounds right, looks right, feels right… even smells right.
We all want to keep that “lovey stage” alive, but it’s not easy. No, life gets in the way, complicating how we communicate, look at each other, and maybe even smell one another! For example, having kids is a big change in a relationship, and those changes aren’t always positive.
There are a lot of struggles that can sever your connection with your partner: parenting challenges, financial differences, infidelity, and in-laws are just a few of the things that can leave you feeling overwhelmed and underappreciated.
And when you stop communicating, it’s virtually impossible to solve these problems. After all, why would you want to compromise with someone who doesn’t even listen to you?
Couples therapy can help.
We’ll primarily draw from the Gottman Method, a scientifically proven, research-based approach to rebuilding your relationship.
It’s based on the principles of enhancing love maps, sharing fondness and admiration, turning toward each other, keeping a positive perspective, managing conflict, realizing life dreams together, and creating shared meaning.
You’ll learn and practice skills in session that you can use at home!
Here’s what we’ll do…
We’ll listen to how the relationship started…
And where it’s going. Having a clear understanding of where you started helps set the groundwork. Maintaining perspective on why you chose one another and where you want to go as a couple is important.
We’ll conduct assessments…
Assessments help to indicate areas of strength and weakness. This information will guide our work together to make you a stronger couple.
We’ll create a treatment plan…
We’ll shore up your relationship where it’s struggling. Using the idea of the “Strong Relationship House,” the plan is based on your history, assessments, and desired areas of improvement. With clearer, more defined goals, this is a different approach from others you’ll find in couples counseling.
It is possible to keep the love strong!
You can get back to the relationship you’ve always dreamed of!
